正確的選擇適當的膜孔徑，對於細胞的研究極為重要。小的膜孔徑(0.4um) 主要應用於藥物
對細胞影響的研究上。而細胞的移動研究或是細胞的化學趨性研究，一般常選擇3um 或是
更大孔徑的膜。此外細胞能否穿越膜的孔洞跟使用的細胞株、細胞的培養條件以及膜的孔徑
大小有關，>3um的膜孔徑細胞通常無法穿越。
